Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The manuscript is in Microsoft Word document or Latex file format. Latex manuscripts should be submitted in PDF.
  • The submission has been structured following the instructions according to article type outlined in the Author Guidelines
  • Tables and figures reproduced from other publications have attribution to the source and the source has been in the reference list.
  • References follow Vancouver format, are consecutively numbered in the article text with superscripts, and the reference list matches the references included in the article text. Where available, DOIs or URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The submission adheres to the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy, which is found in About the Journal.

     

Author Guidelines

Original Article
Original articles report primary research that adds substantial new evidence and knowledge to the field and contextualizes the significance of its findings in the current context.

Review Article
Review articles provide a critical summary of the existing literature to explain the current state of scientific evidence on a particular topic by summarizing key research findings, describing current areas of agreement as well as controversies and debates, pointing out gaps in current knowledge, outlining unanswered questions, and suggesting directions for future research.

Brief Report
Brief reports present salient features of ongoing research (e.g., novel methods, preliminary findings), expand previously published research, or summarize content  presented at meetings.
